Squeezing "memory making time" into Austin's fire booked Summer!

Our first summer together!! Austin and I have been together for three summers now, and this is the first one that he has been here for! First summer, Basic Training and AIT, second summer, Iraq...Third summer, here we are! So, even tho he is here, he isn't really. As you know Austin is a wild land firefighter and in HOT HOT southern Utah there tends to be fire. So far this year he has been on 5 fires and as we speak he is on this 6th! Between fires and his regular work schedule we still find time to make some pretty fun memories! Derek, Austins friends not only works with him but we love hanging out with him and his wife, Megan!
Austin loves his Job!!

Shoot number 4!!
This last weekend we made a few super fun memories! Austin was a bull rider all the way through High School and then after high school a few of Austin's friends decided to enter into the Bryce Canyon Rodeo and a few others. Since the deployment he hasn't been on a bull, but don't worry...he still thinks he's got it! Friday night Austin entered himself, Derek and Cody into the rodeo...once again! Their confidence was killing me! Austin says "I'll take first and you guys will come in second and third!" Um, maybe not! Cody ended up not coming and so it was just Derek, Megan, Austin and I.
Austin's bull's name was Naked and when the Announcer was getting the crowd ready for Austin's ride he said "Here's Austin Smith coming out "Naked" were not sure if he meant to say that but it was super funny! He didn't end up riding for 8 seconds, not even 5 seconds, oh well tho..I'm sure we will go again! He did get an injury but I don't think it had anything to do with the ride. His spur came loose and stabbed his foot while he was in the shoot, now he's got a blue foot! Needless to say we didn't go all the way to Bryce for nothing! The rider right after Austin had a bit of a collision with the his bull! He was able to get out of the arena before he passed out, Austin watched him go down but wasn't quite fast enough to catch him. Austin got him to wake up, he called for the EMT that is on duty for the rodeo's, she was there in just a few minutes and Austin had to walk her through what to do, things to check and weather or not he needed to get to the hospital. He sure did make me proud! I'm very thankful that Austin has the knowledge that he does, I feel safer around him knowing that if I collapse or get shot or any number of things he knows exactly what to do in any situation!
Derek, Megan, Myself and Austin!
This last weekend Austin experienced his very first concert, it was Justin Moore (country, of course) he loved every second of it! The four of us, Derek, Megan, Austin and I all had dinner together at our place. I made a mean pork roast and put it over rice, Austin's fav! When it was time to head to Richfield, we walked out the door and the whole valley was heavy with smoke, where there's smoke, there's fire and where there's fire, Austin and Derek have to work. We got in the car anyways and headed to the concert, we did a quick check online to see if there was any information about the fire. We figured that Austin wouldn't be getting the call until later that night so off to the concert we went! Around 9:30 Austin got the call...meet at the barn at 5 am tomorrow morning, were going on a fire! We were able to enjoy the rest of the concert, the time we were all spending together and we made some fun memories! I was more excited for Austin to be going to his first concert than I think he was! oh well..
We all got Justin Moore T-shirts to remember it forever! But don't worry, they forgot to order Large Shirts, so Austin and Derek can drown in XL's or suffocate in Small's! Everything worked out, we all enjoyed the concert except for the drunk obnoxious loser's that had no idea what was even going on! Despite the idiots, the concert was small and really cool! Justin talked to the crowd like he was just another redneck hanging out in podunk Richfield fixing to get drunk with everyone!

I love spending time with my sweet husband, but with the job he has it makes it really hard to make plans in advanced. It seems like when we make plans that were really looking forward to a fire happens and he's got no choice but to go. I'm getting used to the being away part of our marriage, but I sure don't like it! I was used to NEVER seeing him while we were dating because of the Military, our whole relationship was built on letters and trust. Now that were married not seeing him basically kills me! Everyone tells me that you get past the "honeymoon stage" in a marriage but were coming up on 4 months of being married and I'm still treasuring every moment I have with him! They were right when they said "Absence makes the heart grow Fonder" I cant wait for my husband to come home after work every night, to make him dinner and talk about how work was that day! I count my blessing every day that he was able to get through his deployment to Iraq with out any problems, that he came home safe and in one piece. That we were able to be married in the Temple for time and all eternity!! I'm thankful that he comes home from work every night healthy and able to go to work the next day! I love him with all my heart and I look forward to him having more time off this summer to spend with him!!
